In Brief
In the 80s, if you had a problem and no-one else could help, you'd have been strongly advised to hire 'The A-Team'. It would have to be something a bit more out of the ordinary than missing car keys or a blocked drain - more along the lines of cattle rustling or being pushed about by nefarious gangsters. You'd also have to find the blighters - supposedly a crack commando unit on the run for a crime they didn't commit.

In Depth
Vietnam veterans, 'The A-Team' comprised of the bloke from 'Breakfast at Tiffanys' as head honcho John Hannibal Smith, 'Battlestar Glacticas' Dirk Benedict as smooth talking ladies man Face, and Dwight Shultz as the team's resident pilot (and head-slapping loon) Howling Mad Murdock. Last, but far from least was the ever popular Mr. T as the plane-hating,, one-man jewellery store B.A. (Bad Attitude) Baracus.
Each week these soldiers of fortune would stumble upon some hapless oppressed individuals, tangle with the bad guys, and get trapped in a shed full of spare parts and potential weapons. In no time they'd construct an amazing war machine, allowing them to blast their way to freedom, just before scarpering off when the army turned up to nab them (for the aforementioned crime they didn't commit).
Most fondly remembered for it's repetitious conventions - such as a variety devices for tricking B.A. into boarding aircraft - and it's extreme but completely bloodless violence, 'The A-Team' ran for 98 episodes over five seasons from 1983 to 1986.
