One moment you?re in the Alpha Quadrant all nice and cosy in familiar space, not far from home, doing battle with enemies you recognise and then before you can say 'raise shields' your ship moves into the wrong wormhole and you find yourself transported to the other side of the galaxy and faced with the grim reality that even at top speed it's going to take eighty years to return home. Voyager is a highly successful spin-off from the Star Trek franchise (see Star Trek for back Story) The crew find themselves in the unenviable position of just that scenario as they are sucked into the Delta Quadrant with nobody but themselves to rely on. So begins their epic journey home. Without the ability to call for help from friendly allies of old, Voyager and its crew must forge new alliances in order to navigate through the sometimes hostile areas of unknown space while trying to find ways to shorten their journey. With a crew compliment that cannot be replenished when death strikes, they function as a family where possible still adhering to Starfleet's 'Prime Directive' to not interfere with the growth of developing species. The ship must conserve its power supplies and acquire new materials to maintain energy if they are to ever stand a chance of making it back in one piece. Lead by Captain Janeway, a capable, firm yet sometimes vulnerable character and aided by a loyal, supportive yet often homesick crew, they journey through the Delta quadrant facing peril and misfortune. Being the new ship in town, many races seek to overcome them and steel their advanced technology and Voyager must always be prepared for a fight. Highly entertaining and filled with good plot lines and inter-character relations, Voyager is highly regarded among all Star Trek fans.
